Stuff to Read

Hello everyone, Neil here; you might remember me from such productions as “Powerpoint April” and “Powerpoint: The Return”.

Anyways, looking at the blog stats, I’m pleased to see that many of you are returning to the site to see what pearls of wisdom are there to be imparted onto you, the faithful reader. In honour of your commitment to reading, I will be attempting to add something readworthy on a weekly basis. This will take the form of “meet the team” interviews and other little gems – well it’s as interesting as Big Brother…

Anyway, some key members of the Powerpoint “staff” – or “Powerstaff” as we call them – will be sharing thoughts, feelings and embarrassing stories with gusto in the interest of your entertainment and maintaining their floundering celebrity status. Stay tuned as Richard “Slip” Knott recounts his favourite Powerpoint of all time and Nick “Grizzly” Blair shares his most embarrassing moment. Perhaps you’ll even get a little insight into what the enigmatic Richard “Baywatch” Mitchell gets up to in his spare time…

Carry Your Cross

If you’re like me:

1) I’ll pray for you and
2) You’ll still be buzzing from a great and challenging night on Friday night.

We said “Fare thee Well” to Powerpoint 06/07, on Friday night… in style! Karl preached a truly excellent and challenging message to us and I know I feel privileged and challenged to have been there to hear it. Many’s a prize was won – congrats to those lucky urchins who won the frog (!) and the tent – many’s an exciting night in the back garden ahead…

Thanks to those from Morningside Baptist for taking on the challenge of hosting the event – I think you’ll agree it was a great venue and worked a treat! Thanks to Karl for speaking; to the stewards who gave up their time to ensure we had a good (and safe) time and of course thanks to you, the people who came along! The biggest thanks go to Richard Mitchell (the hard working sound man) who basically moved in for two days and two nights (rumour has it he got home around 3am on Saturday) and made the event sound so good!!!

Four months without Powerpoint… what will we do?! Well firstly, fear not, for in fact the next event is in 3 months time!!! On Friday 14th September, 2007 at 7.30pm, we have the privilege of hearing a message from Louis Palau - this man has seen more people give their lives to Christ than most others who walk the earth today and to have him coming to share God’s message with us is an unbelievable priviege. So do me two favours… 1. Make sure you come along and 2. Ensure you spread the word and let’s ensure that St. Thomas’ is bursting at the seams!

Feel free to leave some comments on the blog – it’ll ensure that those keenos who check this on a daily basis have something to read and indeed it will encourage others to do the same…

I’ll try and throw in some updates/thoughts/info over the course of the summer to keep you all interested in the site right until we meet again in September (back at St. Thomas’ Church, unless thinsg change – which they probably won’t).

Peace

Neil

Fanning The Flame

This (rather terrible) map gives you all the info you need for what you will bve doing next Friday night (14th June). It’s almost here, the summer Powerpoint event at an all-new venue!

Just thought I would write to you all to let you know what the evening is all about!!!

We’re going to have some games and there will even be (proper) prizes… that should be nice; there’s going to be a great talk…. that should be nice; and there’s going to be loads of worship… that should be nice. The theme will be about keeping on going for the prize God has for us at the end of the end, or something that rolls off the tongue a little better than that.

So there you have it… it’s going to be very NICE. In addition, IT’S FREE!!!!

So come along, Friday 15th June @ 7.30pm to the Braid’s Centre, 1 Nile Grove, Morningside. Oh and did I mention the requirement to bring a friend? That’s probably because it isn’t a requirement. No doubt I DID mention the preference that you bring a friend. The place will only fill if you come and bring your friends.

Also, why not spread the word about this site to your chums so they can get (just a little) taste for what it’s all about?

I hope you’re looking forward to next Friday… I know we all are and we look forward to seeing you there.
