Please acknowledge with much admiration and respect, the evident time and effort that went into the above subject heading – pretty imaginative stuff huh? Well, what would you suggest for a more suitable subject heading (bear in mind I like my puns)?
A good friend of mine once said to me:
“Christmas time, mistletoe and wine,
Children singing Christian rhyme,
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
A time to rejoice in the good that we see”
That was my old chum Sir Cliff talking about the joy that is Powerpoint December (did I mention it was on at 7.30pm on Fridat 14th December, 2007 at St Thomas’ Church on the Glasgow Road, Edinburgh)…
I can’t promise logs, fire, gifts or trees… but I can promise Christian rhyme and rejoicing; also, we spoke to our lawyers who recommended we not persevere with the “mistletoe room” we were planning this year. Oh, and given the average age of those attending Powerpoint is 12 – 17, we feel wine wouldn’t be wise either; but there’s always plenty of Irn Bru… So in conclusion, Cliff’s claims were 80% lie and 20% truth. But hey, it should be good anyway.
Some things are certain about next Friday:
1) There will be plenty of fun
2) You are coming (aren’t you?)
3) You’re inviting some of your chums…
4) God will be glorified
5) Keith Short will be speaking and that means you will be challenged
6) There will be some Christ-centred worship
7) Santa will not be there (he’s quite busy at this time of year… or so his agent tells us)
So, you coming or what? Of course you are, it’ll be a cracker (geddit?) – ok, so that was a lame one, but it’s not easy to be funny in text.
So, I guess I’ll see you there. We’ve got a heavy programme, so be there for 7.30 sharp.
Thanks for some of the comments on this blog recently, please do keep them coming as we love to hear from you.
